I have finally seen the New! Disney's Haunted Mansion movie that's out in theaters now, and it was great. I don't want to give too much away if you haven't seen it yet, but Disney did a really good job of giving nods to the Haunted Mansion attractions at both Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California and the version located at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Gracey Manor is supposed to be located in the Louisiana bayou near New Orleans, so I was really happy to see that this new version features a little more of New Orleans than the previous film with Eddie Murphy did.
There are lots of fun Easter eggs throughout the movie, and the cast is great with Danny Devito, Owen Wilson and Tiffany Haddish. If you have seen the earlier film, then you know the overall theme is a love story. Well, this one is as well, but it is told from a little different perspective and gives you the whole back story of the Hatbox Ghost, which I never knew until now.
There's been quite a bit of discussion about where Disney is going to be placing the Hatbox Ghost in the Haunted Mansion attraction at Walt Disney World Resort, with many saying he won't be in the right sequence of events. But, after seeing this new film, I don't think he will be completely out of place. If you've seen the movie and have an opinion on where he will be placed...at the end of the Endless Hallway just before Madame Leota is seen in the crystal ball, please let me know. I'd love to hear what you think on this topic..."If you're willing?"
*(If you've seen the movie, then you understand that line. Haha)
Here's to the beginning of this year's Spooky season!
