Disney has announced that the New Disney Genie and Disney Genie+ paid service with Lightning Lane ride access will officially launch on October 19, 2021.
Ready or not....we have all the detail about how this new feature and services will work, so let's break it down.
What is Disney Genie?
Disney Genie is combination of new features in your My Disney Experience app that will assist you to maximize your time in Walt Disney World® Resort theme parks so you are enjoying more attractions and less time in line.
You will be able to select the themes and attractions that interest your travel party the most, and Disney Genie will form a customized Tips board for you in your app for those attractions showing real time wait times and forecasted wait times throughout the day. This will let you know the best times to ride with the shortest wait time.
Disney Genie will also create a personalized itinerary for your day in the parks as well based on the attractions and shows you tell it you would like to experience.
You will also be able to place Mobile Orders for quick service and check on the availability of walk up reservations for table service dining locations all through your Disney Genie features.
Can I use Disney Genie for advance planning before I get to the parks?
No, Disney Genie is designed to intuitively assist you the day you are in the parks. Your travel advisor can assist you with all pre-arrival planning, such as selecting the best WDW resort hotel thath meeets your family's needs and budget, selecting your Park Reservations based on projected crowds patterns so you aren't in the busiest park each day, assisting you with securing dining reservations and answering any questions you may have about navigating your best Disney vacation.

What is Disney Genie +?
Disney Genie + is an optional add-on to your theme park ticket, which will allow you to pre-select an arrival window for those attractions you would like to experience without having to stand in the standby line.
If you choose to use the Disney Genie + option, you will have access to over 40 attractions and shows across all four WDW theme parks via the New Lightning Lane entrance queue. Think the former FastPass+ system.
Can I Park Hop using Disney Genie +?
Yes, you can certainly use the Disney Genie + option to use the Lightning Lane entrance at more than one theme park each day.
When Can I Make Attraction Selections?
You will be able to make your first at attraction selection in your My Disney Experience app beginning at 7:00 AM on the day you plan to visit a Disney theme park. Remember, you must have a Park Reservation for the park you plan to start your day.
Once you have used your first ride time selection (or it has expired), you may select another attraction ride time...one at a time throughout the day.
Can I Choose the Same Attraction to Ride More Than Once During the Same Day?
No, you can only use the Lightning Lane entrance one time per Disney Genie + attraction in the same day.
When Can I Purchase Disney Genie+ for My Upcoming WDW Vacation?
You can add Disney Genie + to your WDW room and ticket vacation package before you check-in by telling your travel advisor you would like to add this to your tickets. You would then have Disney Genie + for the length of your tickets. So if you have a three day ticket, you will have three days of Disney Genie + service.
If you plan to only be in the park(s) for 1-day, or you are an Annual Passholder, you will be able to purchase Disney Genie + right in your MY Disney Experience app the day you plan to visit the parks.
What is the Cost to Add Disney Genie + to My Tickets?
The cost is $15 per person per day you want to use Disney Genie +, or for the length of your park tickets if you are adding it to your WDW vacation package.
There is another optional add-on you can choose to guarantee access to select attractions. Disney is introducing the New Individual Lightning Lane Attraction Selection. This will be an a la carte option that allows you to pre-select up to (2) attractions each day through the Disney Genie in your My Disney Experience app.
What is Individual Lightning Lane Attraction Selection?
Disney has selected two of the most in demand attractions in each theme park to have Lightning Lane entry. Guests will be able to select up to (2) ILL attractions from an a la carte menu for guaranteed ride access on a given day.
What is the Cost for Individual Lightning Lane Attraction Selection?
Pricing and availability will vary by day of the week, by attraction and park location. You will be able to see the current pricing for the day you would like to purchase this option in your My Disney Experience app.
How Do I Purchase This Option?
You will be able to purchase this option one day at a time in your My Disney Experience app on the same day you plan to visit a Disney theme park.
When Can I Select My (2) Attractions?
Guests staying at a WDW Resort hotel and other select hotels, can make your first purchase starting at 7:00 AM on the day of your visit.
All other guests staying off property, can make their first purchase when the park opens.
Can I Modify My I Attraction or Ride Time Window?
No, you cannot modify your ILL selection or ride time window. YOu would have to cancel the reservation and make a new one.
